You can see my logos below. Creating a graphic image using Adobe Illustrator was quite a task for me. The image did not come out as i had hoped, i know, kinda weak. I'll have to try again...

Week 4 Assignment: Anything Goes

Recently there has been a lot of buzz about Philadelphia going green. The latest addition to our skyline, the Comcast building, also qualifies to be considered "Green" from the U.S. Green Building Association. After some research I learned that William Penn envisioned Philadelphia, his "Greene Country Towne" to be designed with lots of parks and grass separating homes. For my Anything Goes assignment I took a picture of the original plan for Philadelphia and superimposed modern day green icons.

For this assignment we had to use Adobe Illustrator to create 4 logos that we might use later for our Zine. For all four of these logos i used shapes and symbols.

Friends of the Wissahickon is an organization dedicated to maintaining the Wissahickon Valley Park in Philadelphia. Some projects of the organization include restoration and maintenance of trails; and restoration and build park structures.

Conspiracy Showroom Is Located on North 2nd street. It is described as a "Minimalist Northern Liberties co-op boutique filled with inventive clothing and accessories, created by local and national designers." It is definitely worth checking out.

Green Plan Philadelphia

Green Plan Philadelphia brings together city agencies and partner organizations to prepare GreenPlan Philadelphia, a comprehensive open space plan for the city. this organization brings people together to speak about citywide issues and issues local to their neighborhood. One of Green Plan Philadelphia's goals is to reconnect green parks and open space by developing a long-term vision and to implement it over 15 years.

Green Plan Philadelphia reports that there are 56% fewer violent crimes and 48% fewer property crimes in inner-city apartment buildings with higher levels of greenery versus those with little or no vegetation.*

Living green, is it a fad or is it here to stay?

Although i don't live a very green life, this topic interests me. There are many ways to incorporate green practices into everyday life. I would like to explore these practices and see where they get their roots and what has caused living green to become so popular, especially in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia.
